EXHIBITION November 2016
Rory & Helen Shearer Ceramics
Rory studied Ceramics, and Helen Jewellery and Silversmithing at the University of Ulster Art College in Belfast where they met.
They now work from a small studio in the Antrim Hills.
Helen’s ideas come from her imagination. She is constantly sketching the things she sees around her and combining clay and metal to create beautiful images and patterns on brooches, described as “clay that can be worn”.
Rory’s work is rooted in an Asian aesthetic. He is a maker and uses richly coloured slips and glaze to translate the texture and organic tones of the landscape. The alchemy of glaze experimentation is evidenced in his evolving work with surface texture and colour.
