Imelda Hume - Encaustic Art

An exhibition of Encaustic art by Belfast artist Imelda Hume. Encaustic is a wax based paint composed of beeswax, resin and pigment. The painting process involves the use of various heated tools. The word 'encaustic' comes from the Greek word enkaiein, meaning to burn in, referring to the process of fusing the paint. Imelda has been working in this medium for over 15 years and her work is collected worldwide.
